Making Spirits Bright

At CJA, we believe that each and every one of our students are created in the image and likeness of God and that they have been blessed with incredible gifts and talents. For this reason, we adhere to the Jesuit ideal of cura personalis, or care for the whole person. This concept guides our holistic approach to creating a safe learning environment where students are able to use their gifts and talents to discover new passions that they will continue to explore throughout their unique paths from CJA to the start of their careers.

In this season of reflection and celebration, I hope you enjoy this slideshow of our students from our recent Christmas field day and celebrations. The future is bright for our young men and we remain grateful to our benefactors, faculty, staff and families for helping to make that possible.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your loved ones. We look forward to continuing to keep you updated on all things CJA in the new year!

In gratitude,

Jessica Green Clement
Development Officer

Get to Know Our Alumni

Markell Staples, CJA ’19, Saint Ignatius College Prep ’23

What are you excited about in your life right now?

Everything, actually! Everything is falling into place, in school and outside school, everything is moving fluidly right now.

What are you proud of right now?

I’m proud of how I handle situations. Usually, I wouldn’t know how to handle things without someone’s help, and now I’m learning how to handle things on my own. I’m getting older every day. I’m also proud of my grades. Right now, I have all A’s and B’s and that’s a big accomplishment especially at Saint Ignatius College Prep (SICP).

Are there any goals that you are working toward that you’d like to share?

I just want to finish high school, and now I’m in the process of thinking about what college I want to go to and what I want to do after high school. I want to get as many college credits as I can while I’m at SICP. I’m exploring my options. I want to be an architect.

What resource was most helpful to you as an alum of CJA?

Ms. DiPiero and my CP Counselors. Mr. Carney — my counselor at SICP — and Ms. Walsh, too! Ms. DiPiero is there for everything. I just let her know what’s going on in school. If I’m on the verge of my grades being bad, she gives me advice on what I should do and who I should talk to and schedule meetings with my teachers. They always check up on me.

What is something you are feeling grateful for?

I’m actually thankful for everything. My family, my siblings, all my teachers, and people that care for me. I’ve had a lot of great opportunities in my life and I haven’t taken them for granted.
