Josh

Class of 2025

Josh, first question, what is it like to be a sixth grader?
It kind of feels the same, just like it’s more harder work, I guess. It’s harder work than all the other grades.

How is middle school different from lower school?
More work. But that’s all I can think about.

What does it mean to be a part of the CJA community?
Well, it’s better than all my other schools that I know. I’ve only been there for a couple years, or something like that. One I went to for a long time for like, first to fourth. It was pretty good, but it was just kind of like, I don’t know how to really explain it.
Here I have co-curriculars.

What do you like about co-curriculars?
I like the extra stuff like, at the end of the day. Basically, after you’ve done all your work and stuff, you can do what you like.

What do you like doing?
Baseball, Culinary Arts and Drumming Ensemble.

What do you like to do outside of CJA?
I just like to bike and play with my friends from CJA. They’re nice.

How has your year been this year?
My year has been good. It’s been good because well, first, I got to try co-curriculars. That’s one thing that’s new to me. And then like, the school building is basically almost done because it has most of the stuff ready.

What are you excited about with the campus expansion?
We’re going to have more Music rooms there. In Music, I’m getting the hang of how to read music for Mr. Brooks and to be able to know all the notes for piano. Well, not really all of them, but most of the notes.

What is your favorite thing about CJA?
It has to be the teachers. They’re nice and fun, like Mr. Wicks.

What’s your favorite subject?
My favorite subject is Math, because a couple years ago, my grandma taught me Math. In Math class we’re working with percentages and decimals and fractions.

The social workers work with each class. What is one thing you have learned from a social worker this year?
One thing that I’ve learned from a social worker is when not to engage all the time. If you get in, like a bad situation, you can walk away from it or try to figure it out better.

Why do you think it’s important that we started to enroll girls at CJA?
It’s important girls go to school like this!

What are you thankful for?
My family for finding this school for me.

And what is your favorite grad-at-grad value?
Open to Growth. It’s my favorite because it means that you can try new stuff that you haven’t done. Things you haven’t done before that you probably didn’t know you’d like, you can try it and learn you like it. It could end up being your whole career.
