Ke'Marii

Class of 2028

What’s it like to be in class as a 3rd grader?
I love my class because it’s pretty and nice and all the decorations we have. My teachers are my favorite too. They teach me a lot. They show me what to learn. They are respectful. Miss Dorsey is very, very, very good. She’s my best friend, and we made a video of us dancing. Miss Nelson is good too!

What do you like to do outside of CJA?
Play on a playground. And I like to hang out with my friends and to have fun. I like to have sleepovers.

What’s your favorite thing about CJA?
My favorite thing about CJA is when we go outside and Math. I love, love, love, love Math, and I like to just raise my hand on all of the questions.

What’s something helpful you’ve learned this year?
When we were doing a test and I didn’t feel like doing it, Mr. Beckley told me to power up. Get all your energy and put it in the work you need to get done. I can do the long test… i-Ready. It’s hard. Harder than you think!

The Learning Resource Center team works with every grade, what is something you’ve learned from them this year?
First, I say hi to Reggie (The Director of Learning Support’s dog) and Mrs. Wilson, and then I get to work. We go over our vowels and consonants. We have three new words a week so, “all,” “am” and “an.” Then, we read books that have those words on the board in them. Next, we practice finding and spelling words that have the words on the board in them so, “b-all,” “h-am” and “f-an.”

Why do you think it’s important that CJA have girls at the school?
Because boys have been here every day – before there were girls. It’s the girls’ turn. But girls are about to go over there (points to campus expansion). I’m just excited.

I heard you like music! Tell me about that.
I’m the first girl playing the saxophone! Mr. Carroll says good job and that I was the first girl playing the saxophone and Brooklyn was the first girl playing the trumpet.

What are you doing for your co-curricular?
Cooking class — Culinary Arts. In cooking class my first quarter, my mom and dad wanted to eat my stuff because it tasted so good. I know my cooking is so special. I like cooking. I do, I do, I do, I do.

What do you like to cook?
Macaroni, tacos, mashed potatoes… Guess what I’m thinking.

I’m not sure, what?
I like to cook ribs.

Ok! Is that your favorite food?
Yes.

What does it mean to be part of the CJA community?
It’s great! It’s like family outside of my family.

What are you grateful for?
I’m thankful for my family, my friends, my sisters, my cousin, my mom, my dad.

You have a lot to be thankful for!
Yes I do!
