Class of 2026
What’s it like being a fifth grader at CJA?
Um, it’s pretty tame.
What do you like to do outside of CJA?
I love art. I want to be an artist when I grow up. I like graphic design. I like graphic design and abstract art.
What is it about art that you enjoy?
I love that I can just draw out whatever I’m feeling onto paper, or draw things that have been on my mind, and then it just releases stress.
How has your year been so far?
Well, I got my highest score I’ve ever got on i-Ready. It feels good. It feels very nice. I feel accomplished.
What’s your favorite thing about CJA?
My favorite thing about CJA is the classes because the classes are different, and we get to learn different things in each class.
What is your favorite subject?
My favorite subject is either Science or Math. Because Math, I’m really good at Math, and Science because I want to know more about space, and I love space.
Do you have a particular planet that you prefer?
I like Saturn. I like Saturn because of its rings, which makes it very special. Each ring is not actually just a solid ring. It’s just a ring of a bunch of rocks and debris floating around Saturn.
Social workers work with each grade. What is one thing that you have learned from a social worker this year?
I’ve learned to value other people’s opinions.
Why do you think it’s important that we started to enroll girls at CJA?
It’s important because we need more people to come to the school and realize how amazing it is. Also, so that more people can get an education.
What are you most excited about with this new campus?
I’m excited about what the inside of the school is gonna look like because I saw the paintings [murals in the campus expansion’s Welcome Center], and I really liked it — brand new art. I saw there are going to be some pictures up on the wall, and I want to see that.
A few of our alumni are going to be painting some of the murals on the new building. Maybe one day you can paint something for CJA, and we can hang it up.
I think I will because I really love art, and I think I’m pretty good at it.
What does it mean to be a part of the CJA community?
To me, to be a part of the CJA community means to help out with everybody in CJA and to learn more things about CJA and what everybody does in school.
How do you help people?
I help people sometimes by asking if they’re okay, if they need help on work. If I’m finished, then I’ll try and help them with their work. Just try to be a person for others.
What is your favorite grad-at-grad value?
My favorite grad-at-grad value I think is open to growth because it’s about how people look at things and how when they try, they can change. It’s also about trying new things and accepting when you’re wrong and adapting to that thing that you did wrong. Like, this year I played my first school soccer game. I was nervous, but I guess I didn’t have anything to be nervous about because we won.
