What’s your favorite thing about CJA?

My favorite thing about CJA is the resources they give us. It’s nice to be able to learn in lots of different ways. It helps me learn better. Last year, I got to take a more advanced Math class because of how much I learned.

When did you start at CJA?

I started at CJA in fourth grade. The summer before fourth grade might have been my greatest time here because that was when I met my friends. That summer is the reason I know half the people in this school now!

How’s sixth grade going?

Sixth grade is definitely harder than last year. We have to do a lot more work. Right now, we’re learning about how to divide, add and multiply mixed fractions. I’ve gotten better at multiplying – I can do it in two seconds!

What are you looking forward to the rest of this year?

I’m looking forward to learning how to read better. Mr. Cooper teaches Reading, and I like the way he teaches it. I like the teachers here. They hold you accountable.

What does it mean to be part of the CJA community?

My mom told me this is one of the greatest schools in the city right now. Of all the schools I’ve been to, this is the best school.

What’s your favorite subject?

My favorite subject is Art. It’s one of my favorite things to do. I like drawing. I also like that we get to paint, and it’s very relaxing. My favorite project that we have done was when we got to paint a canvas with the sunset and the beach.

What is something you have learned from a social worker this year?

Ms. Hoesterey is my favorite social worker. She’s easy to talk to. She listens well.

What’s your favorite co-curricular?

I’ve done a lot of co-curriculars: Art Club, Culinary Arts, Games Club. I loved the Bike Club. On Pi Day, we biked to a place that was giving out free pies! The first time I was in Bike Club, I didn’t know how to ride a bike, but by the second time, I just got on and was ready to go!

What’s your favorite grad-at-grad value?

My favorite Grad-at-Grad value is Committed to Doing Justice. For example, when something’s not fair, I want to help. I like to say something when something is wrong and to stand up for my classmates.

What are you thankful for?

I’m grateful for my school. I’ve made a lot of friends since I started here. I’m grateful for my mom and all that she does for me. I’m grateful for my dad, my grandma and my auntie.
