Students of CJA

At Chicago Jesuit Academy, our students find a home where their potential is seen, their voices are heard and their ambitions are nurtured. CJA is a loving community that uses rigorous academics, wrap-around mental and physical health supports and a robust team of college and career persistence counselors to walk with our students and alumni from enrollment to the start of their careers. With these resources, our students grow and thrive on their journey as people for others. Below, students from each grade use their own words to exemplify this growth.

What does it mean to be a part of the CJA community?

Being part of the CJA community means a lot to me. It’s so fun and so cool. This is the best school I have ever been to.

If you had a friend who was thinking about coming to CJA, what would you say to them?

If I had a friend who was thinking about coming here, I would say you should go to CJA because the people here are really friendly, kind and fun. You’re going to meet a lot of new kids that you’re going to make friends with. There are a lot of teachers and a lot of helpers. CJA is a safe place.

What is something important you’ve learned this year?

Ms. Sumner works with our class. I’ve learned from her to respect and be nice to my classmates. I practice that by saying nice things to people, and I do that outside of school with my friends as well.

What’s it like being a fourth grader?

I like being in fourth grade. I want to make sure I’m doing things the right way. I try to give everyone a little bit more grace when we aren’t doing what we need to do, and I know I need to be a supportive scholar to my friends and classmates. When my classmates and I make mistakes, we’re able to fix them.

What advice would you give a new third grader?

My advice to a new third grader would be to find the people here that will help you. If you need some help, get some help whether it’s academics or just somebody to talk to. That’s what I needed here, and I really got that.
