What does it mean to be a part of the CJA community?
Being part of the CJA community means a lot to me. It’s so fun and so cool. This is the best school I have ever been to.
When I was in second grade, my parents told me I was going to this school with my brothers, and I was so excited. I was waiting and waiting to get here. Now that I’m here, I like it! We get to do a lot of fun stuff, and the lunches are really good!
I like when we have beef and rice. And the cookies are so good! That’s why I love Fridays.
My favorite subject is Math because I like addition, subtraction and multiplication. My favorite of those is multiplication. I like Reading too. I am reading about Neil Armstrong right now and his walk on the moon. He really liked being a pilot.
I like going to Moore Park, and I like to come to the CJA playground even when school is closed. My brother, Dante, takes me. He goes here too! He’s in sixth grade. I have some other siblings that have graduated from CJA. Dariyon is in college, but I don’t know what he’s studying1.
My teachers are Mr. Johnson and Ms. Amaro, and they are the best teachers ever! Mr. Johnson is our Math teacher, and Math is my favorite subject! Ms. Amaro does so much for us.
I have a lot of friends. Really, the whole class is my friend. They help me up when I get hurt, sit with me after class and play with me.
If I had a friend thinking of coming here, I would say, “Come to this school! Come meet us!”
I am thankful to go to this school and everyone here: my brothers, friends, teachers, coaches. And, I’m thankful for recess.
I like Committed to Doing Justice. It means protecting each other and cleaning up the world. I am committed to doing justice by helping people and making the world a better place.
1Dariyon is a proud Ryan Scholar at DePaul University. Through the immense generosity of the James T. and Michelle A. Ryan Foundation, qualifying CJA alumni can receive full tuition and room and board at DePaul.
